The Unforgettable Night

The hospital walls are painted ghost white. The dull steel blue gas canisters stuck out from the plain white walls. The ward is quiet and dreary yet the sound of old men and women chuntering amongst themselves with the occasional moan can be heard. A nurse is looking. A patient that is near to death is lying in the corner, her family is all around her; they know she isn’t going to make it through the night. The frail lady’s gas is fixed closely to her face which is hiding her linen white complexion. Her great-grandson is fixated on her face, as he never thought that this day would come...
