After staying at home for many years while the children are small, many Stay at Home Moms are trying to build a resume in order to find a job. Maybe the kids are at school full-time and it is time for mom to spread her wings in the corporate world. It is extremely difficult and could be frustrating to try and build a successful resume.
As a Stay at Home Mom myself, I know that we have enough experience to manage a household and therefore manage an office. You have plenty of experience as a Stay at Home Mom that an Administrator or even a Manager has and needs. Building a resume may seem difficult at first, but if you think about it, listing all the things that you did in order to maintain your house in order is a skill that many employers are seeking. Being organized, scheduling appointments for your kids cleaning your home every single day and ensuring that each meal was cooked and served is a huge advantage for many stay at home moms to list on their Resumes. Believe it or not, many employers and managers are men.
And how many men know that their wives are the ones who really run the household and stay on top of the bills and keep the kids fed and also make sure they all make it to their scheduled appointments? Men know that we are able to multi-task and have great time management and organizational skills. And another thing they know is that we know how to cater to their needs before they even ask!
Many stay at home moms also have experience running a small business from home and have been extremely successful. This is another item that should definitely be listed on a resume. There are many software programs now that will help you build a really nice resume and if you do research online, you will find the appropriate words to use on your resume. Instead of creating a resume, why not continue or begin to build your very own business from home? If you can do all the things that are listed above for your household with children, can you imagine the time you would have now, that your children are not home to continue to build or begin your business? You can be home for the children when they arrive home from school, have a nice meal for them ready when they walk through those doors.
Resume for a Stay at Home Mom - Should you go back to work?
The choice is truly yours, I do not want to dishearten anyone but these times are extremely difficult to find jobs and because of the rise of unemployment there are 5 people to every one job and it is truly competitive out there. It is a good idea though if you do not want to start your own business or continue to build your business from home, then remember, you have all the experience in the world to build your Resume.
