How to Write a Professional Service Bio

Writing a professional service bio for marketing materials is a great opportunity available for copywriters, especially for those who are new to the field.

Doctors, lawyers, dentists, pediatricians, real estate agents and other providers of professional services all need someone to write a one-page biography summarizing their qualifications and backgrounds while pitching the reader for their business.

Here are the basic components of a one-page professional service bio:

TITLE: The name of the business. ("Law offices of Bramble W. Macadoo")

OFFICE ADDRESS: Street address of the actual place of business. If there are multiple offices, list them all by city and state. Include full contact information: Telephone, Fax, Website, and Email address.

PRACTICE AREAS or SPECIALTIES: What is the specialization of this person? Does she specialize in suing insurance companies? Divorce cases? Alcohol rehabilitation? Farms and ranches on sale? Listing yachts and boats? Finding lost people?

SCHOOLS: Law, medical or other schools attended and graduated from?

CERTIFICATIONS and AWARDS: Any special certifications and awards relevant to the specialization?

MEMBERSHIP: State bar associations? Professional organizations? Alumni and Greek organizations?

HISTORY: For how many years this professional has been in business? What did this person achieve in the past? How did he or she BENEFITED the clients? What is the track record? What is one thing you can get from this professional that you cannot get from anybody else?

Any TESTIMONIALS?

What is the "Unique Selling Proposition" (USP) for this professional?

OTHER:

Does the person offer any free consultation, in person or by phone?

Are evening and weekend appointments available?

For lawyers: is there a fee involved if the client cannot win the case?

Does she charge a flat fee or expect a retainer?

Does he accept credit cards? Which ones?
