How to Write Articles with Correct SEO Configuration

How to Select an Article Writing Method

How to Write "Article Marketing" Articles

How to Write Health Newsletter Articles

Whether you write targeting certain "hot" keywords or not, you still have to optimize your articles for the search engines so that they can be found by your readers.

These are the components of your article that you must pay special attention to "optimize":

1) TITLE of the Article

This is usually automatically worked (by the posting interface) into the TITLE of the PAGE at the article site where your article is posted.

For example, if the title of your article is "Secrets of Article Writing" and if you post it on a site with a domain name (I'm making this one up) amazingtoparticles.com, then the page where your article will appear might have a PAGE TITLE (usually printed in white letters on the blue default-frame on the top of your browser) like the following:

Secrets of Article Writing

And the domain address of the page will be something like:

http://www. amazingtoparticles.com/secrets_of_article_writing

Just make sure that your KEYWORD (whether it's "hot" or not) is a part of the ARTICLE TITLE so that it'll also be a part of the PAGE TITLE as well as the PAGE DOMAIN ADDRESS.

That's of great help in searches made with that keyword.

2) META KEYWORDS

Most of the time you will not have any control over what the HTML "meta keywords" would be since you will be posting on other people's servers.

However, if you are designing your own web pages and posting your articles on your own server, then you'd be recommended to include your keywords in your META information as well.

In an HTML code, you'd have a number of META information lines. In your HTML editor, switch to the code view, source view, or something similar to that. The idea is to look at the raw HTML code underneath your web page.

Find the line in the HEAD section of the HTML code (the section in between the and tags) where it reads:

In between the CONTENT brackets, type in all your keywords by separating them with a comma.

If this line does not already exist, create it by typing the whole thing in.

Be careful NOT to OVERSTUFF this line by hundreds of keywords. The rumor is that Google punishes such opportunistic attempts to grab the attention of indexing robots. A maximum of 15 well-chose keywords should be enough.

For example, if I were writing an article about "travel nurses," I'd probably edit my META KEYWORDS line as follows and leave it at that:

3) FIRST Sentence and Paragraph

Various SEO books and experts all agree on the importance of including keywords in the first sentence and paragraph of your article. I concur with that advice.

For example, if your key phrase is "global warming" here is a suggested first paragraph:

"Global warming is more than a speculation right now. Scientists, through careful study of fossil evidence and sedimentation analysis, have proven that global warming is a reality. That calls for the implementation of careful policies to reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses and reduce the consumption of carbon-based fossil fuels."

4) IMAGE Name and Tag

The images you use in your articles (if any allowed) need to be optimized for the search engines as well since some people will bump into your article while doing an image search.

Images are captured by the search engines through their NAMES and ALT tags.

The NAME is what you save your image on your system before uploading it into your article.

For example, if you are writing an article on chocolate pudding and want to include your own picture showing you cooking in your kitchen, don't name the photo "Jeanette_W_Hattaway.jpg", assuming your name is "Jeanette W. Hattaway." Why? Because very few people will search the Internet images with the key phrase "Jeanette W. Hattaway." However, a lot of people will search images with keywords "chocolate", "pudding", "dessert", "gourmet cooking" etc. And those are exactly the people you'd like to attract to your article, correct?

Then just name your photo something like "chocolate_pudding.jpg" or "chocolate.jpg", "dessert.jpg" etc. so that your photo has a chance to show up in the search results every time these keywords are searched for. Once your image shows up, all they need to go to your article (that includes the photo) is to click on the photo.

The same goes for the ALT tag, an image attribute in HTML which tells a browser what to display instead of an image on a web page if image display is not allowed, or for any reason the browser cannot display the image. If you do not assign an ALT tag to your photo, just a broken image icon will be displayed. But if you do assign an ALT tag then the text of the tag itself will be displayed.

Let's say you'd like to assign "chocolate_pudding" as a tag text. This is how you would do it in your HTML editor:

chocolate_pudding

Some article marketing sites automatically prompt for the ALT text when you are uploading your image anyways.

5) LAST Paragraph

Most SEO experts would recommend including your keyword(s) at least for once in your last paragraph as well. I would concur with that as well.

6) OVERALL DENSITY

Some SEO experts also claim that roughly 5-7 % of your word count should consist of your keyword. For example, if you write a 300 word article, you should roughly include your keyword 15-20 times, title included. The idea if not overdoing it in order not to get flagged by the search engines for "keyword stuffing." However, if you include only 3 or 4 keywords in a 300-word article, that might be too little as well. So use your common sense and judgment in coming up with the right mix.

Some web platforms like SiteSell (which hosts this web site) have their own built-in keyword frequency checking program that gives you excellent feedback about your keyword density as well as if any keywords are missing from your titles, etc. Highly recommended for especially the beginner-level web writers.

1. Method – 2 main methods of writing articles. Select one and stick with it.

2. SEO – Optimize your articles properly for the search engines.

3. Content – Content is king. How to write memorable articles that your readers will remember and share with others.

4. Footer – don't blow it!

5. Recycling – Recycle your articles through this "Dynamic Recycling" method.

6. Integration – Integrate your article marketing with social networking sites.
